
Having lived in Australia, China and the United States, Renée Mao is a writer and director who brings a unique global perspective and visual power to her narrative driven stories.
A graduate of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, Renée has directed emotional anthem spots for clients such as GAP, Disney, Johnnie Walker and Facebook. She is passionate about creating meaningful work that has positive social impact, collaborating with organizations such as Meals on Wheels, Make-A-Wish and March of Dimes.
Renée’s short films have been featured in the Huffington Post, The Hammer Museum, Director’s Notes and Vimeo Staff Picks. Renée also directed the original dark comedy mini-series 'A Beginner's Guide to Grief' for Kojo and SBS, with support from Screen Australia and the SA Film Corporation, with the series winning the 2022 AACTA for Best Digital Series.
